The major aims & objectives of the association are:

  1. to unite, supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the members
  2. to publicize, encourage, promote and expand the Myanmar tourism and travel industry
  3. to mediate and arbitrate to resolve any dispute amongst members with the consent of both parties concerned
  4. to make representations on behalf of the members to Government and all organizations with which the association has common interests
  5. to seek affiliations with other organizations connected with the tourism and travel industry directly or indirectly
  6. to encourage highest ethical standards of business conduct within the tourism and travel industry by formulating a Code of Ethics which shall be approved by a General Meeting of members and to implement the same
  7. to study, develop and promote the tourism and travel industry and to educate the public regarding the industry
  8. to encourage social activities which will promote understanding, goodwill and fellowship amongst the members
  9. to promote fair competition in the spirit of free enterprise
  10. to organize and participate in conventions, seminars and other such functions pertaining to the tourism and travel industry
  11. to invest in companies and projects pertaining to the tourism and travel industry which would be of benefits to the association
  12. to organize the private entrepreneurs for their cooperation and support in implementing the objectives
  13. to give necessary guidance, train, educate and supervise the private entrepreneurs for the systematic development of tourism in the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism of Myanmar
  14. to communicate international associations, organizations and tourism entrepreneurs for tourism matters with the guidance of Ministry of Hotels & Tourism of Myanmar
